"Hi, I’m Ricardo
I’m a Gestalt Psychotherapist and BACP-accredited Humanistic Integrative Counsellor with more than twenty years of clinical experience.
But therapy isn’t really about titles.
What matters is how someone understands the human mind, emotions, and the deeper patterns that shape our lives.
My work focuses on the places where people feel stuck — emotionally, relationally, or internally. The recurring patterns behind anxiety, trauma, compulsive behaviours, or relationships that seem to repeat the same painful dynamics.
These patterns often make sense once we slow down enough to understand them.
How I Found This Work
My first career was actually in law.
But over time I became more interested in a different question:
Why do thoughtful, capable people still struggle with emotions and patterns they can’t seem to change?
That question eventually led me into psychotherapy and into studying the emotional, relational, and embodied layers of human experience.
Along the way, I had the opportunity to learn from indigenous communities whose perspectives on healing emphasise something modern psychology sometimes forgets — that emotional life, the body, creativity, and community are deeply interconnected.
Those influences still shape how I work today.

Professional background
Twenty years of psychotherapy have shown me that most emotional struggles make perfect sense—once you understand the system behind them.
Over the past two decades, I’ve worked with individuals navigating anxiety, trauma, relationship difficulties, compulsive behaviours, depression, and questions around identity and belonging.
My clinical work draws from several therapeutic approaches, including Gestalt psychotherapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS), humanistic counselling, somatic and body-based therapies, and creative modalities such as music therapy. This integrative approach allows therapy to explore not only thoughts, but also emotions, relationships, and the ways experiences are carried in the body.
Before training as a psychotherapist, I worked in law, a path that eventually led me to explore deeper questions about human behaviour and emotional life. That transition sparked a long-standing interest in understanding the patterns that shape how people think, feel, and relate to others.
My perspective has also been shaped by cross-cultural experiences, including time spent learning from indigenous communities whose understanding of healing integrates mind, emotions, body, creativity, and community.
Originally from Mexico and now based in the United Kingdom, I bring an awareness of cultural identity, migration, and belonging into my work. I welcome clients from diverse backgrounds, including individuals within LGBTQ+ communities, neurodivergent individuals, and people exploring diverse relationship structures such as ethical non-monogamy or polyamory.
I am affiliated with several professional organisations, including:
-
Mexican Association of Gestalt Psychotherapy
-
International Association for Counselling
-
UK Association for Gestalt Practitioners
These affiliations support ongoing professional development and ensure that my work follows recognised ethical and professional standards.

This is what my clients are saying about our sessions

I find myself quoting you a lot! and that means I am finding value and connecting with the sentiments. I feel that we have delved into anything I have wanted to explore and I always gain insights from the sessions. So overall the feedback is great :) Q.A.

Ricardo has allowed me to explore a number of issues - some of which I wasn’t even aware of coming into therapy - in a very safe, compassionate and personable manner. I have got a lot out of our sessions and can definitely notice improvements in my life as a result. Whilst it has also thrown up a lot of other emotions which I’m trying to build awareness of and methods of dealing with, with Ricardo’s guidance I feel I am in the right track
